Help the Environment by Banking Online this World Environment Day!

Help the Environment

June 5, 2015 is World Environment Day, which makes it the perfect time to cut down on your carbon copy and identify eco-friendly ways of managing your finances. PrimeWay has several options for members to support them in this effort, including:

  • eStatements
  • Mobile banking
  • Free online educational resources

eStatements: PrimeWay offers and encourages eStatements that are sent directly to a member's email inbox. Not only does this option contribute to supporting the environment, but eStatements also provide added security when compared to the possibility of hard copy mail being lost or tampered with. Many creditors and service providers will offer you an incentive if you "go-green" with online or eStatements, so consider asking them to see what your options are.

Mobile banking: PrimeWay offers several mobile banking options. Our downloadable app allows you to transfer funds, pay bills, check balances and find a local branch or ATM. You can also check balances and the last five transactions by signing up for Text Banking. The mobile website allows members to pay bills, check balances, and review lots of free resources and information, including timely updates around security measures and promotions.

Free online educational resources: With more than 40 free online educational resources and tutorials, like PrimeWay's MoneyEd modules, you don't need to waste paper by using print versions of similar content. You can simply surf our website to research and learn from anywhere you have access to the Internet.

Other steps you can take to be proactive in supporting the environment include conserving water, cutting down on the use of plastic water bottles, recycling, reusing shopping bags, and opting for online or soft copy (on the computer) review of documents vs. printing them. You can even go as far as to ask that the money you withdraw at the teller window not be put in an envelope (if you're comfortable with that), as every little bit counts!

World Environment Day is held every June 5 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Per UNEP's website, World Environment Day "is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment." You can read more about it here.
