1. Don’t Travel On Popular Travel Days
Avoid the peak travel days this holiday season because these are the busiest, most expensive days to travel. They are usually the days right before and after major holidays. Travel within your budget by keeping a flexible schedule. Typically traveling on the day of a major holiday can save you money.
Last year, travelers departing from Los Angeles to New York from the same airline on the morning of Thanksgiving Day and returning on the following Saturday (instead of Sunday) spent $509 to $619, helping to save about 50 percent in transportation costs according to GoBankingRates.com.

2. Book Early
The earlier you book, the better! Try to book at least three weeks in advance of the travel date to try and score the best deals. If you must wait to book your travel plans, try booking on days when travel is usually cheaper “like Tuesdays and Wednesdays, instead of booking on a Friday or Saturday according to U.S. News.

3. Try to Find Package Deals
Bundling can sometimes save you hundreds! A lot of travel sites offer package deals (hotels, flights and car) at a discounted rate.
