You always want to shop around for the best flight deals. Some airlines, like Spirit and Southwest, service smaller regional airports near popular vacation destinations. Airlines such as these often offer lower ticket prices and only present a minor inconvenience when getting to your final destination. The savings can often outweigh the inconvenience.

2. Try a Boutique Hotel

Many popular hotel brands have created a "boutique" line of hotels that include kitchenettes, oversize baths and separate bedrooms in the rooms, just to name a few of the amenities. Hampton Inn  is one example that offers this type of "suite," which can save travelers money when it comes to storing and keeping food in the room, as well as the free daily breakfast, happy hours and Wi-Fi that many of these chains offer.
